NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Four members of the Norwich University women's basketball team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, recognizing their outstanding achievements both academically and athletically.
Haley Brewster (Virginia Beach, Va.),
Maren McGinn (Georgia, Vt.),
Kiley O'Brien (Kingston, Mass.), and
Jessica Zimmerman (Turner, Maine) were all honored, as announced by CSC (formerly CoSIDA) this afternoon.
Brewster, an architecture major with a 3.82 GPA, continued to be a consistent offensive force for the Cadets, finishing second on the team in scoring at 14.7 points per game. She led Norwich with 57 made three-pointers, shooting 36.8% from beyond the arc, and was a versatile contributor across the board with 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
McGinn, a nursing major with a 3.95 GPA, was one of the most dominant players in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) this season. She led Norwich in scoring with 15.3 points per game on a 58.1% field goal percentage, ranking among the most efficient players in the league. She also topped the Cadets in rebounding with 7.5 boards per game while shooting 84.9% from the free-throw line. Her strong performances throughout the season earned her GNAC All-Conference Third Team honors, and she now ranks ninth all-time in program history in career points.
O'Brien, a criminal justice major with a 3.73 GPA, helped anchor the Cadets with her strong inside presence. She averaged 10.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, ranking second on the team in rebounding. O'Brien was a key defensive piece for Norwich, tallying 16 blocks and 12 steals, while also providing crucial scoring in the post.
Zimmerman, a criminology major with a 4.0 GPA, was a key starter for Norwich throughout the season, playing in 24 games and starting 23. She was an integral part of the Cadets' defensive efforts, recording 17 steals and five blocks, while also contributing significantly on the boards with 4.2 rebounds per game. Zimmerman's ability to impact the game in multiple ways was vital to Norwich's success, as she provided stability on both ends of the floor.
To qualify for CSC Academic All-District® honors, student-athletes must be a sophomore or older, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and compete in at least 90 percent of their team's games or start in at least 66 percent of contests.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
