CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Norwich University rifle team delivered a strong performance at the Mid-Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships, finishing fourth overall in aggregate scoring with a total of 4356 points at the DuPont Rifle Range, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The Cadets placed third in the smallbore competition with 2176 points and secured a fifth-place finish in air rifle behind a 2180 score, marking a competitive showing in just their second MAC Championship appearance since the program's reinstatement in 2022.
Mount Aloysius College claimed the MAC title with a 4557 aggregate, capturing both the smallbore (2233) and air rifle (2324) titles. The University of Rhode Island and MIT finished in second and third behind 4445 and 4436 marks, respectively.
Individually,
Sophia Ashford (Northfield, Vt.) led the way for Norwich, finishing eighth overall with a two-gun score of 1120. She tied for fifth place in the smallbore event (554) and secured a tie for ninth in air rifle (566).Â
Ben Kelley (Niantic, Conn.) also turned in a strong performance, tying for 12th overall with a 1097 aggregate score.
Aiden Burris (Marietta, Ga.),
Jacob Cohn (Colchester, Conn.), and
Jasmin Mann (Virginia Beach, Va.) all participated in smallbore competition, while the Cadets were additionally represented in air rifle action by
Brady Simmons (Middletown, Del.),
Evan Elders (Spring Hill, Fla.), and
Sage Kontny (Clancy, Mont.).
