BURLINGTON, Vt.- For their North Atlantic Collegiate Rugby (NACR) opener, the Norwich Men's Rugby team travelled up Interstate 89 to take on second ranked University of Vermont Saturday afternoon.
The Catamounts were off and running early, with a couple of early tries to take a 12-point lead before
Conner Willet and
Kris Wayton combine for a try and conversion to make it a one score game 20 minutes in. However, UVM would respond with 17 unanswered points to take a 29-7 lead into halftime.
Norwich tallied three tries in the second half, courtesy of
Blake Wolliston and two by
Dumisani Janda with
Marius Edwards notching the conversions. However, the Catamounts would prevail in the end despite the Cadets outscoring UVM in the final frame.
Norwich will play their home opener Saturday afternoon at 2 PM when they host the defending conference champions from the University of Maine during Homecoming weekend.
