NORTHFIELD, Vt.- The Norwich Men's Soccer team battled Rivier to a scoreless draw Saturday night as the two sides were jockeying for position in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).
In the early going, the Cadets were granted the first opportunity seven and a half minutes in when they were awarded the first corner of the contest, leading to a
Kam Jorgenson (Titusville, Fla.) chance that sailed wide. As the half wore on both
Nicolas Lanza (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) and Rivier's Logan Clough came up big with saves, and several other opportunities for both sides missed the mark in the defensive struggle.
To open the second half, the Raiders had a chance that glanced off the crossbar with the follow up going wide, as they held the territorial advantage early in the frame. Both defenses continued to hold the fort as chances were few and far between down the stretch. For Norwich,
Christian Grubic (Montvale, N.J.) and
Diego Fuentes (Valencia, Spain) led the way in the shot column, while Lanza made two saves.
The Cadets will return to the road Wednesday night when they continue GNAC action against Dean, kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
