Women's Soccer: Dawson, Roy Help Net Draw with Falcons

NEW HAVEN, Conn.- For the second consecutive game, the Norwich Women's Soccer team played their opponent to a 1-1 draw. This time it was on a Tuesday night trip to Albertus Magnus.

The Cadets tallied their first shot in the 12th minute, by that point the Falcons already took three shot attempts and were granted four corner kicks. The Albertus barrage kept coming until Erina Ismaili broke through in the 30th minute on a golden opportunity. By halftime, the shots were 14-2 for the Falcons.

Albertus did not let up in the second half, however it would be the Cadets who would break through. Off a throw in, Leonora Everett (Oakdale, Tenn.) passed the ball to Lindsey Duggan (Belmont, N.H.) who would send Bella Roy (Weare, N.H.) breaking in. From the top of the penalty area, Roy would send a ball off her right foot into the top left corner of the goal to tie things up. The Falcons kept pressing for the tie breaker, but senior goalkeeper Kayla Dawson (Brooksville, Fla.) did not budge by making nine saves in the second half and totaled 13 on the night.

"It's always great to get a point on the road against a conference opponent," Head Coach Jared Cipriano said. "That was a tough game, but we battled hard to come back after giving up a first half goal. I'm hoping we can keep gaining some momentum as we head into a good stretch of games at home."

That stretch of home games will commence Saturday afternoon when the Cadets play host to Dean at 1 PM on Sabine Field.
