Men's Soccer: Late Push Falls Short as Bulldogs Lock Down Cadets

NORTHFIELD, Vt.- In their second game of the season at the friendly confines of Sabine Field, the Norwich Men's Soccer came up empty against Dean 1-0 Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs came out on the attack early, in the 13th minute they were awarded their lone corner kick of the contest. Sean Doherty sent a ball towards the back post finding the head of Bryce King whose shot went off the turf and found the back of the net. With the first half winding down, the Cadets were awarded three corners within a minute where they got off two shots but came up empty before the break.

Norwich came out swinging in the second half with Aidan Dwyer (Glastonbury, Conn.) getting an early opportunity that was shut down before two more corner kicks came. The Cadet attack did not let up as they tallied seven shots in the period and Dean keeper Alberto Gonzalez Del Rio making three saves on top of being awarded six corners.

"Congratulations to Dean, they executed their game plan well," Head Coach Staige Davis said. "I liked how our team battled in the second half, but I'm disappointed we couldn't find a way to break through and I look forward to having a chance to bounce back Friday night."

That game on Friday night will take place at 7 PM against Anna Maria as part of the Homecoming weekend festivities.
