SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- After a brief layoff, the Norwich University Wrestling team returned to action on Sunday with a fifth-place finish at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Duels tournament at Springfield College.

The Cadets got off to a rocky start falling to Springfield to open the day's festivities. Next in the consolation bracket was a narrow 25-21 defeat at the hands of WPI which came down to the heavyweight bout. Norwich scored its first victory of the day downing Plymouth State 45-3 before taking the 5^th place dual with Bridgewater 25-22.

The matchup with Bridgewater came down to the final two contests. Sophomore Simon Taraska (Willowick, Ohio) took his bout in the 197-pound class by major decision, which was followed by a victory by fall for Imari Milton (Miramar, Fla.). Also notable for the Cadets was sophomore Joseph Lotruglio (Andover, N.J.) who was Norwich's representative on the all-tournament team recording two of his three wins by fall.

"We overcame some early adversity," Head Coach Alex Whitney said. "But responded well by finding our groove against Plymouth, and Imari came up big against Bridgewater pinning a veteran opponent."  

The Cadets will look to build momentum when they travel to Elizabethtown, Pa. for the ten team Ken Ober Memorial Tournament which will commence at 10 A.M on Jan. 28. Individual results can be found at flowrestling.org.
