BOSTON, Mass. - The Norwich volleyball team topped Emmanuel College in a clean 3-0 sweep at the Jean Yawkey Center on Saturday afternoon, after suffering a 3-0 loss to Lasell University earlier in the day in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tri-match.
The Cadets opened the day with their loss to the Lasers (25-21, 25-17, 25-17), which saw Norwich claim leads in all three sets, including a 9-3 advantage to open up the first set.Â
Addison Schroeder (Apple Valley, Calif.),
Ana Lopez (Laredo, Texas), and
Leah Mathewson (North Chelmsford, Mass.) all tallied six kills, while
Julia Dorr (Clifton Park, N.Y.) logged a team-best 10 digs.Â
Sarah Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) was effective in posting high assist numbers, this time with 22.
It was a role reversal in game two, as Norwich kicked off a dominant sweep over Emmanuel (25-10, 25-14, 25-18) by picking up a swift 14-4 edge over the Saints in set one. Lopez asserted herself offensively with 12 kills, the only player in the game in double-digits. Farnum cruised to 28 assists, while her sister
Laura Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) collected 18 digs.
Norwich will now return home for a pair of games, first hosting Simmons on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. A non-conference duel with Salem State will follow on Friday, with another 6 p.m. start time.
