MONTREAL, QUEBEC - The Norwich University men's rugby team opened its spring 7s campaign on Sunday, traveling to Montreal, Quebec to compete in the Concordia (Quebec) 7s Tournament.
The Cadets finished with a 2-2 record and earned fifth place out of eight teams at the tournament. The tournament consisted of six Canadian Intercollegiate Universities and two United States schools with New England College joining Norwich.
Norwich dropped its first two matches of the day to Laval, 28-21 and then McGill, 42-0. However, the Cadets rebounded to win their last pool play match vs. University of Montreal 35-0. NU then won the fifth place match vs. University of Quebec at Chicoutimi, 28-7.
Matt Rambin and Adam Schmitz led the way for the Cadets with three tries on the day, while Nate Rolling and Jay Inzenga each added two scores each. Anthony Candrilli and Keegan Frick also scored for NU.
Norwich will travel to the University of New Hampshire on April 14 for the Scott Milley 7s tournament.
