Swimming and diving - Jones' double leads Cadets

BABSON PARK, MASS. – Norwich University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined to gather 11 event top finishes in dual action against Babson Jan. 14.

Despite falling 147-125 on the men's side and 130-99 on the women's side, the Cadets receive strong individual efforts. Senior Felicia Jones (Sherburne, N.Y.) was at the head of the class with wins in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard intermediate.

Jones' afternoon was part of a solid team performance from the Maroon and Gold's women's squad. Freshman Daniella Vitale (North Smithfield, R.I.) won the 100-yard backstroke, sophomore Victoria Sabel (Plainville, Conn.) claimed the 500-yard freestyle, and senior Janice Knoop (Cicero, N.Y.) won the 50-yard butterfly to go along with Jones' double and a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Coach Laura Dunn's men's team picked up event victories from senior Mike Zemanek (Voorheesville, N.Y.) in the 200-yard freestyle, sophomore Brandon Kelly (Centreville, Md.) in the 100-yard butterfly, sophomore Patrick Bowden (Cumberland, Me.) in the 200-yard intermediate, and freshman Lance Webster (Windham, Me.) in the 1000-yard freestyle.
