WINTHROP, Mass. - The Norwich University women's swimming & diving team extended its impressive streak of weekly recognition from the Grat Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) on Monday afternoon, as senior
Reilly Laitala (Sterling, Mass.) was named GNAC Diver of the Week for the fifth time this season and the 16th time in her career. Freshman
Delaney Allen (Gibsonia, Pa.) was selected as GNAC Rookie of the Week for the second time this year, while freshman
Burgan Danger (Wadsworth, Ohio) landed on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll.
The Cadets returned to action over the weekend at Saint Michael's College, collecting three event wins and a host of top-three finishes in a 207-78 setback to the Division II Purple Knights.
Laitala continued her dominance on the boards, sweeping both diving events for the fourth dual meet in a row. She posted a 170.20 to win the 3-meter event by more than 28 points, then followed with a 202.45 on the 1-meter board to top a four-diver field. The senior has yet to be beaten in a diving event during dual meet competition this fall, and now owns five weekly honors in 2025-26 after earning six last season.
Allen showcased her growing versatility with a pair of second-place individual finishes and standout relay contributions. The freshman posted a 26.45 in the 50-yard freestyle and a 5:51.81 in the 500 free, while also swimming second leg of the Cadets' 200-yard medley relay and anchoring the 200-yard freestyle relay teams. Her freestyle anchor split helped Norwich's top group finish just two seconds off the lead, and ahead of Saint Michael's B squad by a narrow margin.
Danger delivered Norwich's lone swim victory of the day with a thrilling finish in the 100-yard backstroke, touching out Saint Michael's top entry by six-hundredths of a second in 1:08.85. She added a third-place result in the 200 back (2:28.92), and opened the Cadets' top medley relay with a strong leadoff leg.
Norwich has now earned weekly conference honors in five of the first six weeks of the season, with Laitala, Allen, Danger,
Brandy Lewis (Strafford, Vt.), and
Anna Gosselin (Lisbon, Conn.) all having been recognized this fall.
The Cadets will return to competition this weekend at the North Country Invitational, hosted by SUNY Potsdam. The two-day meet begins Friday, Nov. 21, at 4:00 p.m., and continues through Saturday, Nov. 22.
