LYNDONVILLE, Vt.- For the fourth time this season, the Norwich baseball team took on intrastate rival Vermont State Lyndon Thursday afternoon, in which the Hornets would take the win.
The Cadets were behind the eight ball early, as Lyndon came across the plate eleven times in the home half of the first. Norwich ate into the deficit in the second, starting with a one out single for
Isaac Maldonado (Miami, Fla.) before three consecutive walks brought him and
Ryan Miller (Westhampton, N.Y.) home.
After the Hornets widened the gap further, Miller would drive home
Kevin Ohlsen (Shirley, N.Y.) for the Cadets' last run of the game. Maldonado finished the day going 2-4 at the plate while
James Campbell (Havertown, Pa.) and
Hunter Lohrli (Wilmington, N.C.) closed out the game on the mound without allowing an earned run and combining for six strikeouts, five by Campbell.
Norwich will return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Friday afternoon when they host New England College as the Cadets celebrate Senior Day. First pitch is set for 1 PM.
