WINTHROP, Mass. - The Norwich University men's swimming & diving team added to its growing list of conference accolades on Monday afternoon, as junior
Andrew Clark (Acworth, Ga.) earned GNAC Swimmer of the Week honors for the first time in his career, freshman
Max Ansell (Red Bank, N.J.) was named GNAC Rookie of the Week, and junior
Kristian Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.) was selected to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll.
The Cadets picked up six event victories in a 180-104 road meet at Division II Saint Michael's College on Saturday, showcasing depth across the sprint, distance, and stroke events.
Clark delivered a breakout performance in the butterfly events, sweeping both races with commanding margins. He claimed the 200-yard butterfly in 2:00.77, more than five seconds clear of the field, before returning to win the 100 fly in 55.02. Clark also contributed on Norwich's top relay squad, swimming the third leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay that capped the meet with a 1:30.59 finish, nearly 1.5 seconds ahead of Saint Michael's A team.
Ansell posted his strongest dual meet to date with scoring efforts across breaststroke, freestyle, and both relay formats. The rookie earned a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.51), Norwich's top result in the event, and added a top-five time in the 100-yard freestyle. He also handled breaststroke duties on the Cadets' A-relay in the 200 medley and later competed on Norwich's B-relay in the 200 free, reinforching his value as a reliable all-around contributor.
Adlianitski continued to pace Norwich in the sprints, securing wins in the 50-yard freestyle (22.29) and 100-yard freestyle (49.32), both by narrow but convincing margins. He led off the Cadets' 200-yard freestyle relay to victory, teaming with Clark,
Drew Bylow (Monroe, Mich.), and
Adrian Riendeau (Ridgecrest, Calif.) to outpace the Purple Knights by nearly a second and a half.
Norwich has now earned GNAC weekly honors in five of the first six weeks of the season, with five different Cadets receiving recognition this fall, including Clark, Ansell, Adlianitski, Bylow, and
Gabe Wettig (Ballston Spa, N.Y.).
The Cadets return to competition this weekend at the North Country Invitational, hosted by SUNY Potsdam. The two-day meet begins on Friday, Nov. 21, at 4:00 p.m., and continues through Saturday, Nov. 22.
