NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's soccer team battled to a scoreless draw with Regis College Friday evening in a tightly contested match to open Parents and Family Weekend on Sabine Field.
From kickoff, the match featured a strong defensive posture on both ends. Norwich and Regis each tested one another sparingly; neither side was able to generate consistent danger in the attacking third in the first half, with the Pride mustering two shot attempts in the opening frame to go along with five corners.
The stalemate continued into the second half, with
Hannah Jenkins (Manchester, N.H.) coming up with two stops, one of which came in the final seconds to preserve the draw. Norwich had several chances, including three consecutive corner kicks that did not yield a tally, and a late opportunity for
Jasmine Hackman (Clear Brook, Va.).
The Cadets will return to the road when they make a midweek trip to Boston to face reigning Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Champion Emmanuel on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.
