NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University men's swimming & diving team continued to make history in their final dual meet of the season, this time setting nine pool records while sweeping all 14 events in a 134-64 victory over Plymouth State University at the PSU Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.
Five different Cadets attained multiple solo victories, as
Adrian Riendeau (Ridgecrest, Calif.), Drew Bylow (Monroe, Mich.), Arthur Abrams (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), Andrew Clark (Acworth, Ga.), and
Kristian Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.) all posted two individual wins apiece.
Riendeau claimed his first win with a 1:53.07 in the 200-yard freestyle, before setting a pool record in the 50-yard backstroke with a 25.73, over nine seconds faster than his second-place competitor. Riendeau also earned a first-place team finish, swimming the first leg of the 200-yard medley relay team that handed the men's team their first win of the day on a 1:41.16.
Bylow followed Riendeau's first solo victory with his first, touching the wall in 2:03.11 in the 200-yard backstroke to set a new pool record. He followed that by taking to the pool for one of the day's final events in the 50-yard butterfly, finishing in 25.52. Bylow closed his day as the second leg of the first-place 200-yard freestyle relay squad that posted a 1:32.26 effort.
Abrams also made history with his first solo victory, topping his nearest competitor by over 10 seconds with a 2:21.08 time in the 200-yard breaststroke to log his name in Plymouth State's record books. He secured one of the most impressive victories of the afternoon during the 100-yard IM, tallying a 58.03 time.
Clark continued the streak of individual victories, proving victorious in the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:02.97 performance. His second first-place finish propelled him to a new pool record, as he swam an impressive 5:04.58 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Adlianitski closed out the multiple first-place finishes with back-to-back victories in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 22.55 and 49.87 times, respectively, to set pool records in both events. He also saw action with a pair of first-place relay teams, closing both the 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay events with 1:41.16 and 1:32.26 team times, respectively.
Martin Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.) and
Will Thompson (Downingtown, Pa.) also scooped up individual dubs, as Adlianitski gave the Cadets their first solo win with a 2:06.60 in the 200-yard IM, while Thompson earned his victory in the 50-yard breaststroke on a 28:07 time. Both seniors were key cogs in the 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay teams, the former of which set a new pool record on a 1:41.16 effort.

The Cadets close head-to-head action with a 4-2 record. A select group of swimmers will participate in the two-day Middlebury Invitational in Middlebury, Vt., over Friday, Jan. 31, and Saturday, Feb. 1. Norwich, with hopes of defending back-to-back conference titles, will then turn its attention to the three-day Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships, hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) from Feb. 7 through Feb. 9.
