NORTHFIELD, Vt.- The Norwich softball team competed in their third straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) North Division contest when they played host to defending GNAC Champion Simmons Saturday afternoon.

After a stalemate in the first two innings, the Sharks broke through first in the third with five runs, which the Cadets would answer in the home half. Courtney Thomas (Strafford, N.H.) started thigs off with a leadoff walk. After being sacrificed over to second, Thomas would come home on a Madison DeCota (Strafford, N.H.) triple which was quickly followed by a Maren McGinn (Georgia Vt.) RBI single to close the gap to three. Afterwards Simmons would score five unanswered runs to end game one and shut down Norwich in game two. The Cadets will travel to Boston tomorrow for a fourth straight GNAC North clash, this one with Emmanuel at 12 PM.
