MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Norwich Softball team opened their spring break trip with a twin bill of games.
Up first was a matchup with Wilkes, where the Colonels jumped ahead early with three runs in the top of the first. The Cadets responded in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own. After a hit by pitch,
Liliana Rolfe (Plainville, Mass.) doubled to left field putting runners on second and third. The next batter,
Maren McGinn (Georgia, Vt.), scorched a double of her own to center plating Rolfe and
Taylor Farnsworth (Saint Johnsbury, Vt.) to close the gap. After that, Wilkes scored eight unanswered runs to take the win.
In the second game, Norwich took on Albion. The Cadets started off hot in the bottom of the first beginning with a
Madison DeCota (Strafford, N.H.) base hit. After stealing second, and a
Reese Autiello (Greenwich, N.Y.) walk, DeCota would score on a throwing error. Autiello would steal third and score on a
Julia Vawter (Pelham, N.H.) sacrifice fly. On the mound, McGinn gave the Cadets three solid innings of work only allowing one run. The Britons would take the lead in the fourth and not look back.
Norwich's spring break trip rolls on when they play Kings and Kenyon on March 4. Â
