NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University men's swimming & diving team collected another victory over a Maine rival, this time defeating Maine Maritime Academy, 176.5-110.5, in Goodyear Pool on Saturday afternoon.
Kristian Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.), Drew Bylow (Monroe, Mich.), and
Will Thompson (Downingtown, Pa.) were dominant in their individual events, with each racking up three victories apiece as the Cadets claimed 13 wins in 16 overall events throughout the day.Â
Alex Sulyma (Warwick, R.I.) and
Andrew Clark (Acworth, Ga.) also hauled in individual victories.
The Cadets kicked off the day with an impressive showing in the 400 medley relay, taking first place by over 12 seconds on a 3:45.21 effort as
Adrian Riendeau (Ridgecrest, Calif), Thompson,
Arthur Abrams (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), and Bylow paced Norwich's A team.
Sulyma initiated Norwich's haul of individual tallies, touching the wall in 10:41.14 in the 1000 freestyle to defeat four competitors. Different Cadets earned subsequent wins, as Adlianitski, Bylow, Clark, and Thompson all gave the Cadets nine points each before the Mariners finally secured their first win in diving competition.
It was much of the same throughout the second half of the meet, with Norwich holding strong with the exception of Maine Maritime's narrow win in the 100 butterfly and second diving event. The Cadets capped off their strong performance in the 400 freestyle relay, with Riendeau,
Vicente Velasquez (New Windsor, N.Y.), John Connor Hallstrom (Woodbridge, Conn.), and Adlianitski finishing in 3:23.56 to narrowly edge Maine Maritime by .8 seconds.
