NEW LONDON, Conn.- The Norwich Men's Rugby team continued North Atlantic Collegiate Rugby (NACR) competition when they journeyed down to Coast Guard Saturday afternoon.
In the first five minutes of action, the Cadets reached the scoreboard courtesy of an unconverted try by
Marius Edwards. The score was quickly answered, as the Bears would notch a try of their own to take the lead after the conversion, eventually adding to it with a penalty kick. Soon after, a strong run by
Logan Perry would tie the contest with another unconverted try. In a back-and-forth heavyweight bout of a first half, Coast Guard would score on another penalty kick before an
Alex Huffman try giving Norwich a two-point lead at the half.
The battle waged on in the second half, eventually
Sebastian Yates would be the beneficiary of a pick and go at the goal line leading to another Cadet try. After a third penalty kick for the Bears, Norwich would put the game away with a converted try by Perry to bring the final tally to 27-16.
The Cadets will return home on Oct. 12 when they host Boston University at 5 PM on Sabine Field where they will celebrate their graduating class.
