BRISTOL, R.I. - The Norwich University men's swimming & diving team saw action in their first invite of the 2024-25 campaign, placing second overall out of five teams at the Roger Williams University Invitational with 187 points at the Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Cadets trailed just the host Hawks, who claimed the top spot with 427.50 points. Eastern Connecticut State University and Bridgewater State University finished in quick succession behind Norwich, tallying 172.50 and 170 points, respectively, while Maine Maritime Academy rounded out the field with a 117 score.
Norwich kicked off the affair with a strong third-place performance in the 200 medley relay, behind the team of
Drew Bylow (Monroe, Mich.),
Will Thompson (Downingtown, Pa.),
Adrian Riendeau (Ridgecrest, Calif.), and
Kristian Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.), who crossed the line in 1:39.48.
Adlianitski and Bylow put on the best individual performances of the day, with the former securing a pair of second-place positions in the 200 freestyle (1:49.83) and 500 freestyle (5:04.39). Bylow collected his own second-place spot shortly after Adlianitski, racing a 56.27 in the 100 backstroke.

The Cadets will now look ahead to their home opener, hosting Husson University and the University of Maine on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Goodyear Pool at 11:30 a.m., marking the first of three straight home meets for Norwich. Before the start, the Cadets will be recognized with a pair of ceremonial presentations, one for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Commissioner's Cup for men's sports, presented to Norwich University for their excellence and success in GNAC men's sports over the 2023-24 season. The second award that will be acknowledged is for GNAC Male Athlete of the Year, given to former standout swimmer and 14-time individual champion
Benjamin Stark '24 over the summer. The awards ceremony is set to begin at approximately 11:20 a.m.
