FRANKLIN, Mass.- In their penultimate contest of the regular season, the Norwich Women's Soccer team continued their road trip with a stop at Dean College Friday afternoon.
Throughout the first half, the Cadets had the Bulldogs on their heels with eight shots on target in the first 30 minutes with Dean goalkeeper Haley Gaunt making the stops to keep the game scoreless. Late in the half, the Bulldogs were able to establish a presence in their offensive end, but they came up empty as well. Despite a 13-3 advantage in the shot column for Norwich, the game would be scoreless at the half with nine of those opportunities going on goal.
The domination continued into the second half as the Cadets pushed to break the deadlock but came up empty including a close call with
Colby Magoon (Loudon, N.H.) hitting the crossbar. Minutes later,
Lindsey Duggan (Belmont, N.H.) would take a corner that would find
Kat Probst (Gouverneur, N.Y.) in front of the net to finally break the ice in the 62
nd minute. The Cadets had numerous chances to extend their lead but were turned away leading to the 1-0 score standing at the final horn. In the stat column, Probst attempted 12 shots with seven on goal, Magoon attempted nine with three on target and
Harley Murphy (Guyton, Ga.) notching four attempts with three on goal.
Norwich will round out their regular season with a trip to Johnson & Wales on Oct. 29 at 7 PM.
