GENEVA, N.Y. – The fifth ranked Norwich University Men's Ice Hockey team lost their first New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) game since November after falling to second ranked Hobart 3-2 Friday night at The Cooler.
The Cadets got behind the eight ball early taking a penalty 36 seconds in and the Statesmen made them pay with a goal by NEHC points leader Luke Aquaro. Hobart would tally two more before intermission, with one goal coming with 25 seconds remaining in the frame.
Norwich would get on the board in the second period with
Alex Lewis (Moncton, New Brunswick) extending his goal scoring streak to four games with a powerplay goal to make it eight games in a row that the Cadets have at least one goal on the man advantage.
In the third, the Cadets attempted a furious come back but Hobart netminder Damon Beaver shut the door with 12 saves on 13 shots in the frame. The one goal coming late in the period from defenseman

"Obviously a disappointing start, but our guys fought hard until the end," said Head Coach Cam Ellsworth. "We need to turn the page quickly and prepare for our last regular season game."
That final regular season game will be Saturday afternoon Feb. 11 in Elmira at 4 PM.
