QUINCY, Mass. - The Norwich University volleyball team dropped a non-conference tilt to Eastern Nazarene College (9-25, 7-25, 15-25) on Tuesday evening at the Lahue Athletic Center.
The Cadets opened the contest strong, fighting back from a quick 3-0 hole behind their own 3-0 run, but the Lions took control over the remainder of the first set into the second to scoop up a pair of set victories.
Norwich fared better in the third set, as an Eastern Nazarene service error gave the Cadets the first point. Norwich would not surrender its lead for a while, as kills from
Sam Lebruska (Lynnfield, Mass.) and
Leah Mathewson (North Chelmsford, Mass.), paired with a service ace, granted the Cadets a 7-4 lead. It was not to be, however, as the Lions rallied to put the third set out of reach.
A trio of Cadets had three kills apiece, between Lebruska,
Lillie Ells (Centerville, Mass.), and
Giovanna Fruci (Wrentham, Mass.), while
Gina Caraccio (Churchville, Pa.) handed out 13 assists.
The Cadets will now return home for Parents & Family Weekend, kicking off the festivities with a 6:00 p.m. duel against Colby-Sawyer College on Friday, October 6.
