NEW LONDON, N.H.- The Norwich Men's Soccer team concluded their regular season with a dominant 3-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer which stretched their unbeaten streak to 10 games.
All the scoring took place in the first half, as the Cadets struck early and often. In the 22
nd minute, a cross by
Brice Eka (Gaithersburg, Md.) found the head of a streaking
Troy Galler (Marshfield, Mass.) to get the scoring started. Ten minutes later, after a free kick, Galler would gain possession again and leave the ball for
Jami Lashua (Williston, Vt.) who sent a ball across the box that evaded
Nathan Statires (Hampton, N.H.), but found Eka on the far post stretching the Norwich lead to two.
It would only take the Cadets 1:50 find the back of the net again, as Norwich would win possession off a goal kick, immediately on the counterattack
Diego Fuentes (Valencia, Spain) found Galler speeding down the far side who found a wide open Lashua at the net mouth. The offensive onslaught was complemented by the goalkeeping of
Nicolas Lanza (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) who made seven saves in the shutout, including four in the second half.
"Going unbeaten in our last 10 games is a great way to end the season," said Head Coach
Staige Davis. "The boys were focused on ending the season on the right foot, and I'm really proud of how they responded to the adversity we faced early in the season."
The Cadets will begin Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) playoff action this weekend having only one loss in conference action.
