NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Cadets came out firing on Saturday evening to romp Regis (Mass.), 4-0, in a Norwich Homecoming shutout. Norwich had the Pride under siege throughout the match, posting a 21 (13)-2 (2) shot advantage for their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win of the season.
The tone was set in the 29th minute when the Cadets converted on consecutive corner kicks taken by senior
Amerle Nemeye (Burlington, Vt.). The first conversion came off a rebound by sophomore
Kam Jorgenson (Titusville, Fla.) with senior
Joseph Thongsythavong (Salem, Mass.) getting the original opportunity at 29:08.
Nemeye would bend another marker into the goal from the corner himself 26 seconds later and would add another goal to his total in the 57th minute while Thongsythavong would add another goal (79th minute) and assist.
Norwich will look to boost their GNAC conference record Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. as they take on Emmanuel College (Mass.) under the lights at home at Sabine Field.
