Box Score 2 STANDISH, Maine – The Norwich University softball team was swept on Friday afternoon by Saint Joseph's (Maine) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Bailey Field.
SJC Maine (11-11, 7-1 GNAC) took Game 1 10-0 and then won the nightcap 9-1 with both games ending in five innings.
Sophomore Hailey Brickey (Northfield, Vt.) reached on a fielder's choice in the top of the second inning that allowed sophomore Annika Beebe (Marianna, Fla.) to score from third base for Norwich's lone run of the day.
Liliana Rolfe (Plainville, Mass.), Charlotte Charbonneau (West Springfield, Mass.) and Maren McGinn (Georgia, Vt.) all tallied hits in Game 2.
In Game 1, Julia Vawter (Pelham, N.H.) went 2-for-2, while Beebe and McGinn notched hits as well.
Norwich (8-12, 1-7 GNAC) is off on Saturday after its originally scheduled home doubleheader with Simmons University was moved to Wednesday, April 20 with a 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. start at the NU Softball Field.
The Cadets will travel to Castleton on Monday for a non-conference doubleheader with the Spartans starting at 3 p.m.
