BABSON PARK, Mass. – The tenth ranked Norwich University Men's Ice Hockey team came away with a hard-earned point in the standings as they tied with sixth ranked Babson 1-1 Friday night at the Babson Skating Center.
The scoring opened late in the first period for the Beavers as junior
Thomas Kramer (Bridgewater, Mass.) broke the ice with four and a half to play. That would be the lone goal senior
Andrew Albano (Hamilton, On.) would allow as he stopped 28 out of 29 shots he faced.
The Cadets got their legs under them in the second period and were rewarded with sophomore
Bryan O'Mara (Syracuse, N.Y.) knotting the game up at one as
Paul Schmid (Linz, Austria) tallied an assist for the second consecutive game. The third period and overtime were a battle of the goaltenders between Albano and Babson senior
Nolan Hildebrand (Penticton, B.C.) as neither one gave an inch stopping double digit shots each. Norwich outshot Babson a combined 15-12 in the third period and overtime.
"This was a very good team effort to earn a point in conference play on the road," said Head Coach Cam Ellsworth after the game.
On deck for the Cadets is a matchup Saturday afternoon against Southern Maine. Faceoff is set for 4 PM in Gorham.
