CHICOPEE, Mass- The Norwich University Men's Soccer team continued to roll Wednesday as they defeated Elms 3-0 at Leary Field.
Things started with a bang for the Cadets as
Mamadi Jiana (Chicopee, Mass.) set up senior
Joseph Thongsythavong (
Salem, Mass) tallied his 20
th goal of the campaign in the second minute which ties him for the most career points in Norwich Men's Soccer history.
After that the shot barrage was on as the Cadets went on to outshoot the Blazers 38-2 (22-0 shots on goal) with
Collin Liedke (Newington, Conn.) doing what he could to keep the match close for Elms making 19 saves on the night.
Norwich would add another goal shortly before half-time as
Amerle Nemeye (Burlington, Vt.) buried one in the 34
th minute after a setup by junior
Nathan Statires (Hampton, NH). For good measure
Troy Galler (Marshfield, Mass.) scored the final goal of the regular season with help from senior
Noel Rios (El Paso, Texas).
The Cadets look to keep marching as they turn their attention to the GNAC Quarterfinals where they will host Emmanuel at Sabine Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 PM.Â
