Box Score WESTON, Mass. – The Norwich University volleyball team battled Regis College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action, in a match that saw 38 ties, and 22 lead changes, Tuesday night, 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 27-25, 25-17).
Four Norwich players notched double-doubles in the match with Maggie McNeil (Gilford, N.H.) with 11 kills and 18 digs, Julia Schroeder (Victorville, Calif.) who ended the night with 11 kills and 13 digs, Kathryn Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) collecting 10 kills and 15 digs, and Sarah Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) added 39 assists and 13 digs. Laura Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) had 26 digs defensively.
In the first set, Norwich and Regis battled back and forth in to a 24-23 Pride lead, before a kill by J Schroeder jump started a three-point run for the Cadets to take the set.
Norwich in the second set, were led by an offensive combination of McNeil and Kathryn Farnum who had five kills each. They were able to hold a 21-20 lead before the Pride rattled off a 5-1 run, to come back and even the match.
The Cadets and the Pride traded points throughout most of the third before a 25-24 Cadet lead was broken by a string of three straight points by the Pride to close out the set and take a 2-1 lead.
The Pride jumped out on a seven-point run in the fourth set of the match on their way to knocking off the Cadets.
Norwich (5-4, 0-2 GNAC) will take on Simmons on Friday, Oct. 1 in Boston, before taking on the Spartans of Castleton on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. The Cadets will play in Andrews Hall on Saturday, Oct. 9 when they host a GNAC tri-match with Rivier and Saint Joseph's (Me.).
