Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Senior defender Sara Marcotte (Enfield, Conn.) scored for the second straight game, but it wasn't enough as the Norwich University women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Univ. of St. Joseph (Conn.) on Saturday evening.
Marcotte scored at the 38:10 mark of the first half propeling the Cadets into the halftime break tied at 1-1. However, an own goal in the 56th minute ultimately did Norwich in and then USJ Conn. (7-2-1, 4-2-1 GNAC) added an insurance tally in the 87th minute to cap the scoring.
Marcotte scored her second goal in as many games, taking a pass from Isabel Doherty (Quincy, Mass.) and beating the USJ goalkeeper to the far right corner of the net.
Freshman goalkeeper Rebecca Karis (Fayetteville, N.C.) made five saves in net for the Cadets to take the loss.
USJ took the lead in the 15th minute with Elizabeth Garlock heading home a corner kick from Ali O'Neill to give the Blue Jays an early 1-0 lead.
Emily Remicio capped the scoring in the 87th minute off an assist from O'Neill as well.
Victoria Schaffner picked up the win in goal for USJ after making four saves.
Norwich will host Dean College on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in GNAC action.
