Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's basketball team picked up their fifth Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, rolling over the Lasell College Lasers by a 63-43 final score.
Norwich opened up the game on a tear, outscoring the Lasers 17-6 in the opening quarter and shooting 40.7% from the field in the first half while holding the visitors to a mere 12.5%.
The second half was much of the same, as Lasell put together a better offensive effort and outscored the Cadets in the half 32-28. It wasn't enough to close the huge Norwich lead though, as the Cadets ran away with the 63-43 victory.
Shyann Josler (Thetford Center, Vt.) led the way once again for the Cadets, with 19 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds on the day. Josler was the only double-digit scorer, as Norwich spread the wealth around today with twelve different Cadets notching a point in the contest. As a team, they shot 39.2% (20-51) from the field and went 17-27 (63.0%) from the free throw line while outpacing the Lasers in rebounds (38-29) and assists (17-7). For the Lasers, Morgan Church accounted for 15 of the 43 Laser points on the day, as well as pulling in 6 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists.
With the win, Norwich moves to 8-9 overall on the season and a 5-5 mark within the GNAC.
After 10 straight GNAC games, the Cadets will head out of the conference on Tuesday for their next game, when they host the Plattsburgh Cardinals at 7:00 PM in Andrews Hall.
