Box Score MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Norwich University baseball team dropped a 4-0 non-league game on Monday afternoon to intrastate foe Middlebury College.
Middlebury's Colin Waters threw a complete-game two-hitter to lead the Panthers to the victory and improve to 6-10 on the season. Waters struck out two and walked two while facing just five batters over the minimum in nine innings of work.
John Luke went 3-for-4 for Middlebury with two RBIs to lead the Panthers' offense as they notched eight hits off seven different pitchers for Norwich.
Norwich's Brian Albert (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) started the game, lasting two innings, giving up three hits and an earned run to drop to 0-3 on the season.
The Cadets' Mike Ortiz (New Britain, Conn.), Anthony Carter (Woburn, Mass.) and Peter Madsen (New Boston, N.H.) all came in and threw a scoreless inning of relief.
Brandon Pedley (Northfield, Vt.) and Mike Lesco (Somers, Conn.) led the Norwich (1-18) offense with a hit each.
Norwich will play its home opener on Thursday, Apr. 14 at 3:30 p.m. when it hosts Southern Vermont College on Garrity Field. The Cadets will also host Albertus Magnus and Suffolk in a pair of GNAC doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.
