NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Noah Clemmer (Marlboro, N.Y.) scored his first collegiate goal Saturday afternoon, elevating the Norwich University men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Albertus Magnus College. 

The Cadets move to 9-4-3 overall on the year while remaining undefeated in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play (6-0-3). Norwich also remains without a defeat dating back to Sept. 27 of this season while Albertus Magnus drops to 9-6-1 overall, falling to 4-4-1 within the conference. 

Clemmer, making his first start for Norwich, scored the first goal of his career only 9:53 into the contest. The strike capped off a furious flurry of shots by the Cadets – senior Moab Schiers (South Weber, Utah) and freshman Luke Gleadle (Gilbert, Ariz.) each had shots blocked only seconds before a Schiers corner kick was sent into the mix and eventually found the foot of Clemmer. 

Senior Jacob Zimmerman (Litchfield, N.H.) nearly put the Cadets up by a 2-0 margin, striking the post just under six minutes later. The Norwich defense stood tall throughout the rest of the game, limiting Albertus Magnus to only one shot on goal despite facing 13 total shots in the contest. 

Norwich goalkeeper Billy Whaley (Northfield, Vt.) would earn his seventh victory of the year, halting the lone shot on goal that he faced to extend his consecutive shutout minutes streak to 560 minutes of play. The Falcons' Joe Russo turned aside four-of-five shots in the game, drawing the loss. 

Norwich concludes its regular season this Tuesday, Oct. 25 as it hosts Lyndon State College at 7 p.m. on Sabine Field.
