NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's volleyball team swept Lyndon State College 3-0 to earn its third win of the season Wednesday night at Andrews Gymnasium.
The Cadets struck hard and fast for the 25-14, 25-15, 25-19 decision as Lyndon State falls to 2-9 on the year, while Norwich improves to 3-8 overall.
Senior outside hitter Tara Lyons (Pocassett, Mass.) recorded a team-high 13 kills with three service aces for a .462 attack percentage along with two total blocks and three digs for Norwich.
Freshmen Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) and Courtney Quinn (Taunton, Mass.) each recorded seven kills with Oliver dishing out a team-high 11 digs on the night. Sophomore Katie Crane (Avon, N.Y.) came up with 25 of the 31 assists for Norwich.
Junior Kelleigh Murtagh (Merrimack, N.H.) led Lyndon State's offensive attack with seven kills followed by Abbey Greene (Exeter, R.I.) and Alexis Walker (Groton, Conn.) posting four kills apiece.
Junior setter Gwyneth Stahl (Whitinsville, Mass.) tallied a team-high 10 assists and 12 digs for the Hornets. Stahl and Greene would also be credited with a solo block. Lyndon State struggled on offense, committing 20 errors out of 84 attack attempts.
Norwich will return to league play on Saturday, Oct. 3, hosting Emmanuel College at 11:00 a.m. in the Cadets' homecoming weekend festival.
