NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Simmons College women's soccer team scored three goals in the first half before adding one more in the second en route to a 4-1 victory over Norwich University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday night at Sabine Field.

The Cadets remain winless at 0-5-1 in league play and drop to 2-8-1 overall, while the Sharks improve to 5-1-0 in the GNAC and 6-6-0 on the year.

The Sharks wasted little time in taking the lead, as sophomore Kashka Gammon (Nashua, N.H.) scored unassisted at the six minute mark before tacking her second goal 12 minutes later with Victoria Russo (Braintree, Mass.) picking up the assists for the 2-0 score. Simmons extended the lead to 3-0 at the 23:29 mark when senior forward Greer Gilbert (Falmouth, Mass.) found the net unassisted as the Sharks led 3-0 at the half.

The Cadets scored within two minutes into the second half to put the lone point on the board as sophomore Tiana Cass (Torrington, Conn.) scored her fourth goal of the season on a Jordan Kacur (Red Creek, N.Y.) assist.

Simmons would answer at 68:43 on a header from Gammon on a Gabrielle Klane (Franklin, Mass.) assist to complete the hat-trick.

Simmons led in shots, 36-8, and corner kicks, 7-1. Freshman Brooke Dewyea (Piercefield, N.Y.) had a game-high 22 saves in goal for Norwich, while senior Briana Hayes (Manorville, N.Y.) had two stops for Simmons.

The Cadets will return to action on Monday, Oct. 12 as they host Rivier University in GNAC play for the 4:30 p.m. contest.
