NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's rugby team hosted Coast Guard Academy at the Dog River Rugby Pitch during Homecoming weekend at NU on Saturday.
The Bears jumped out to an early 5-0 lead 15 minutes into the contest and carried a 15-0 lead into halftime.
Coast Guard added to their lead eight minutes into the second half to stretch the lead to 20-0.
The Cadets got on the board eight minutes later on a try by junior Eric Pierone to cut the lead to 20-5 before Coast Guard added another try with a conversion to pump the lead to 27-5.
Senior Dan Miller scored a try for the Cadets followed by a try by sophomore Tom St. Pierre to make it 27-15 but that's as close as Norwich would get.
With the win the Bears improve to 4-0 while the Cadets fall to 1-3.
Norwich is next in action on Saturday, October 10th for a road match at the University of New Hampshire that's set to kick off at 11 a.m.
