Men's Rugby: Norwich tops UNH 33-12 behind three tries from St. Pierre

DURHAM, N.H. - The Norwich University men's rugby team extended its unbeaten streak to four straight with a 33-12 win over Univ. of New Hampshire on Saturday morning.

Freshman scrumhalf Tom St. Pierre (Warwick, R.I.) scored three tries to lead the Cadets to the victory. 

Norwich (5-3-1, 4-3-1 NECRC) jumped out on top first with a try by Evan King (Amesbury, Mass.) in the fifth minute. Michael Dowling (North Caldwell, N.J.) successfully hit two penalty kicks in the 16th and 20th minutes to put the Cadets up 11-0. UNH cut into the deficit with a try and a conversion in the 25th minute to make it 11-7 heading into halftime.

St. Pierre dominated the second half scoring with all three of his tries in the 48th, 56th and 73rd minutes. King also scored in the 68th minute to round out the Norwich scoring in the second half.

Norwich closes out its fall 2014 home schedule next Saturday when it hosts rival Coast Guard at 1 p.m. on the NU Dog River Rugby Pitch.
