Box Score NASHUA, N.H. - Despite outshooting Rivier 28-8, the Nowich University men's soccer team couldn't solve the Raiders' sophomore goalkeeper Gary Achambault as the two teams battled to a 0-0 draw in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday night.
The game was a rough and physical one as there were a total of 24 fouls and 5 yellow cards throughout the 110 minutes of action.
Norwich had plenty of chances in the contest to put themselves on the board. However, Achambault was able to turn away all 16 shots on net.
Sophomore Jacob Zimmerman (Litchfied, N.H.) led Norwich with eight shots, while Chris Bristol (Clinton, Conn.) and Alec Brigante (Colchester, Vt.) each had five.
The Raiders had limited chances to gain the extra point but their best opportunity came in the 73rd minute when junior Edward Soucie was able to put a nice touch pass to set up sophomore Alex Armstrong for the one-timer but Norwich goalkeeper Christian Hallstrom (Las Vegas, Nev.) was able to get a hand on the ball and send it wide of the net.
With the tie, the Raiders are now 1-11-1 on the season with a 1-5-1 mark in the GNAC. Norwich is now 10-4-2 and 4-1-2 in the GNAC.
Norwich is currently second in the GNAC and will travel to Boston, Mass. to battle Emmanuel College on Wednesday, Oct. 22nd.
