NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's tennis dropped a tough 5-4 decision to Castleton State on Wednesday afternoon in the Cadets' 2013 season opener at Shapiro Field house.

Junior Christian Hoskey (Saint Charles, Ill.) and sophomore Patrick Ogden (Madison, Ala.) each earned singles victories and combined to claim second doubles to lead the Cadets.

Hoskey beat Will Levine 6-4 and 7-5 at No. 1 singles, while Ogden won fourth singles 6-7, 6-3 and 6-2 over Mike Divis. The two also combined to beat Levine and Matt Trombley 8-3 at second doubles.

Sophomore Ryan Grindle (Essex Junction, Vt.) picked up Norwich's other victory at No. 2 singles, beating Mike Glasser 6-4 and 6-3.

Norwich (0-1, 0-0 GNAC) returns to action on Mar. 20 at home against Lyndon State at 4 p.m.
