Box Score LEICESTER, Mass.—Sophomore attacker Seth Fuller (Wheaton, Ill.) scored five times and dished out two assists to lead the Norwich University Cadets to a 17-7 win against the Hawks of Becker College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.
With the win, the Cadets improve to 3-3 overall and 3-0 in GNAC play, while the loss drops Hawks to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in league play.
Fuller scored three of the first four goals of the game, and the Cadets held a 5-0 advantage after the first quarter of action. Becker tallied the first goal of the second quarter to get on the board, but Norwich answered with three more goals, including two by Ian Mendoza (Mt. Airy, Md.), to take an 8-1 lead into halftime.
Mendoza notched a third tally to open the second half, and Becker scored the next two tallies 45 seconds apart to set the score to 9-3. Norwich scored five-straight goals to conclude the third quarter. The Hawks outscored the Cadets 4-3 in the final quarter to set the final 17-7 score.
Mendoza scored four times on the evening for Norwich. Midfielder Connor Roberts (St. Albans, Vt.) added two goals and an assist, while midfielders Arron Canarelli (New Hartford, N.Y.) and Judd Baggett (Newtown, Conn.) and attacker Ian Thomas (Barrington, R.I.) all contributed a goal and an assist. Victor Bill (Nazareth, Pa.) dished out two assists for the Cadets, while Andrew Bracy (Carthage, N.Y.), Mike Lavery (Penacook, N.H.), and Matt Flaherty (Portland, Maine) all scored a goal apiece.
For the Hawks, senior midfielder Joe Ignagni had two goals and an assist while junior midfielder John DeAngelis and sophomore attacker David Deschenes each finished with two. Senior attacker Jeff Petersen had a goal and two assists.
Norwich goaltender Mark Paradiso (Westford, Mass.) totaled two saves in 30:00 minutes of work before giving way to Ryan Fecteau (Danvers, Mass.), who stopped four shots on goal in his two quarters of play. Becker goaltender Michael Munoz recorded 13 saves in the complete game effort.
Andrew Dustin (Canterbury, N.H.) posted a game-high 10 ground balls. Nate Fortezzo (Branford, Conn.) added eight ground balls in addition to winning 10 of 11 face-off attempts.
Norwich returns to action on Tuesday, April 2 in a GNAC matchup against Lasell.
