Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's soccer team lost 3-0 to Emmanuel College (Mass.) on Saturday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium.
Emmanuel (5-6-2, 3-1-1 GNAC) wasted little time getting on the scoreboard despite the fact the Saints arrived two hours late due to bus troubles and had minimal time to warm up.
Senior forward Darcey Sullivan scored just 2:02 into the match when she buried a shot into the back of the net off a drop pass by Kelsie Dumas.
Sophomore defender Ari Cardillo increased the Saints' lead to 2-0 in the 19th minute with a 40-foot-bomb that tucked underneath the crossbar and over the head of Norwich starting goalkeeper Allison Hull (South Royalton, Vt.).
Sullivan capped the scoring in the 72nd minute with her second goal of the night and sixth of the season off an assist from Donandrea Myette.
Hull made six saves for Norwich as the Saints outshot Norwich 24-1. Abaigeal Thivierge was uncontested in picking up the win for Emmanuel.
Norwich (0-10-0, 0-5-0 GNAC) returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 9 when it travels to Anna Maria for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff with the AMCATS in another GNAC matchup.
