Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt.—Sophomore Aliah Curry (Windsor, Mass.) totaled 28 points to lead the Norwich University women's basketball team to a 60-42 non-conference win against the Panthers of Plymouth State University on Thursday evening.
With the win, the Cadets improve to 6-8 on the season, while the loss drops the visiting Panthers to 1-12.
Curry totaled 17 of her 28 points in the first half on 4-8 shooting from the floor, including 3-6 shooting from behind the three-point arc. The Cadets opened the game with a 10-4 lead in the first 3:45 of the game and would lead by 10 at the 7:28 mark after a pair of made free-throws by Curry.
Norwich would hold the double-digit lead for the entire second half and led by as many as 25 points late in the half. The Cadets improved upon 27 percent first-half shooting to shoot 33 percent from the floor in the second half.
In addition to 28 points, Curry also chipped in with six rebounds. The Cadets also saw standout performances by Erin Clark (Newbury, Vt.), who contributed eight points, and Jessalyn Sweeney (Standfordville, N.Y.), who added six points and a team-high seven rebounds. Kristin Brown (Williamstown, Vt.) dished out a game-high six assists, and Riley Blankenship (Lyndonville, Vt.) added two steals.
Plymouth State saw double-figure performances by Kaylee Towle with 13 and Taylor Perry, who chipped in with 10. Tiffany Lewis led the Panthers on the boards with 12 rebounds and Krystin Corliss had a game-high three steals.
The Cadets return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Mt. Ida College for a 1:00 p.m. Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup.
