Box Score JOHNSON, Vt.—The Norwich University volleyball team posted its second-straight win, downing Johnson State College 3-0 in non-conference action on Tuesday evening. With the win, the Cadets improve to 2-1 overall, while the loss drops the Badgers to 0-3 on the season.
The Cadets posted game scores of 25-7, 25-14 and 25-12 to clinch the win.
Leading the offensive attack for the Cadets was sophomore Kelsey Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) who totaled match-highs in both kills (10) and aces (five). Freshman Tara Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.) and senior MaryRose Meany (Goshen, N.Y.) both added four kills apiece for the Norwich offense, while senior setter Gabrielle Miller (Grove City, Ohio) dished out a match-high 14 assists. Defensively, the Cadets were led by junior Jennette Chartrand (Poestenkill, N.Y.), who posted seven digs on the evening.
The Badgers were led by Mallory Corse and Andrea Williams who added a team-high three kills apiece. Kylie VanEtten dished out a team-leading five assists for Johnson State.
The Cadets totaled a .273 hitting percentage over the course of the match while holding Johnson State to a negative hitting percentage.
Norwich returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 8, when it travels to Colby-Sawyer College for an 11:00 a.m. non-conference matchup.
