Box Score BOSTON - The Norwich University women's soccer team battled back from a 2-0 deficit by scoring two second half goals en route to battling to a 2-2 double-overtime draw with Emmanuel (Mass.) on Wednesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.
Sophomore Alex Frank (Medord, N.J.) scored the game-tying goal with 6:01 left in regulation on a shot from 25 yards out to level the score at two and provide the final offensive highlight of the night off an assist from senior Brittany Casey (Pointe-Claire, Quebec).
Casey had a big night for the Cadets (1-4-2, 0-2-2 GNAC) as she cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 52nd minute by finally breaking through with her first goal of the season and the 49th of her outstanding career in the Maroon & Gold.
Emmanuel (4-3-1, 1-1-1 GNAC) outshot Norwich 25-15 and had nine corner kicks to NU's three. Junior goalkeeper Allison Hull (South Royalton, Vt.) made nine saves for the Cadets while Emmanuel's Jessica D'Ottavio had eight saves for the Saints. Hull is now 1-3-2 on the year.
Norwich returns home to Howard Field looking for its first win its in last six matches when it hosts Anna Maria in another GNAC matchup at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The Cadets then will face Johnson State on Sunday at 3 p.m. in a non-conference tilt that will be video streamed live on www.nsnsports.net/norwich.
