Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Saint Joseph's (Maine) freshman forward Jodi Pollack (Andover, Mass.) scored a pair of goals 35 seconds apart late in the first half to give the Monks all the offense they would need on their way to a 2-0 win over Norwich University women's soccer team on Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Howard Field.
After battling through an even opening 39 minutes, Pollack struck first blood for St. Joseph's (Maine) (5-4-1, 2-4-1 GNAC) in the 40th minute by finishing off a cross at the top of the 6-yard box from Doe Leckie to put the Monks up 1-0.
Just 35 seconds later Pollack struck again, getting by the NU backline and finishing off a pretty strike off the cross bar and down into the back of the net to make it 2-0 Saint Joseph's (Maine).
Norwich (4-6-2, 2-4-2 GNAC) junior goalkeeper
Liz Chapdelaine (Somerset, Mass.) made five
saves for the Cadets in the loss. St. Joe's Maine keeper Jaci Lorenzen made one save to pick up the win for the Monks.
The Cadets are now faced with a tall order to try and clinch a GNAC Tournament playoff berth with just four league games remaining and currently sitting on the outside looking in at ninth place. NU hosts league-leading and unbeaten Lasell on Monday at 3:30 p.m. before traveling to Emerson on Saturday.
