Box Score BOSTON – The Norwich men's soccer team scored four
unanswered goals after falling behind 1-0 early to rally past
Emmanuel, 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Roberto Clemente Field.
Freshman Eric Weir led
the Cadets with two goals while senior Roger
Motaze and freshman Ryan
Campbell each added a goal as well.
Norwich (5-5-1, 2-2 GNAC) fell behind 1-0 less than four minutes
into the game when Emmanuel's Allan Parrelli found
the back of the net to give the Saints the early advantage.
However, that's all the Saints (4-6-1, 2-1-1 GNAC) could muster
past Norwich freshman goalkeeper Alex Toomey
who made two saves to pick up his fifth win of the season.
The Cadets got on the board in the 12th minute when
Campbell tallied his first career NU goal off an
assist from Motaze.
Motaze gave NU the lead for good in the
19th minute on a penalty shot.
Weir made it 3-1 less than five minutes later
off an assist from sophomore Garrett
Shufelt. He then capped the scoring in the
61st minute to give the Cadets a 4-1 lead.
Norwich outshot the Saints 7-4 and held a 7-0 edge in corner
kicks.
The Cadets return to action on Wednesday when they travel to
Lyndon State to take on the Hornets at 3:30 p.m. in their final
non-conference game of the season.
