SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Tara Stevenson scored a
game-high 11 points and grabbed six rebounds, and Jess Jaggars
chipped in 10 points and nine boards to help the Norwich University
women's basketball team roll past Bay Path College, 75-24, in the
Golden Bear Challenge third-place game Sunday afternoon.
Andrea Vogt chipped in 10 points off the bench for the Cadets,
who improve to 2-1 on the young season. Norwich scored 36 points
off 28 Bay Path turnovers, and the Cadets limited the Wildcats to
just 18.5 percent (10-of-54) shooting from the field.
Norwich used a 26-2 run over a span of 8:06 midway through the
first half to take a 36-6 lead at the 8:39 mark. The Cadets led
50-12 at halftime, and they never looked back. NU led by as many as
52 points in the second half, and head coach Mark Zacher was able
to empty his bench.
The Cadets shot a blistering 55.3 percent (21-of-38) from the
floor in the first half to jump out to their commanding lead.
Norwich cooled off in the second half, but still connected on 43.1
percent (31-of-72) of its field goal attempts in the game.
Norwich outrebounded Bay Path, 55-38, which helped the Cadets
hold a 36-14 scoring margin in the paint.
Jaggars was named to the all-tournament team after 6.5 ppg., and
9.5 rpg., during the two-game event.
Norwich will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 24, when the
Cadets host in-state rival Middlebury College at Andrews Hall.
Tip-off for the non-conference matchup is set for 7 p.m.
