NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Tara Stevenson led all
scorers with a game-high 15 points, and Erica Rate added 13 points
as the Norwich University women's basketball team defeated Albertus
Magnus, 69-46, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game
Saturday afternoon.
Kayleigh Shappy chipped in 10 points and a game-high four
assists for the Cadets, who improve to 10-4 (3-0 GNAC).
For the third straight game, Norwich raced out to a huge lead
within the first 10 minutes. Today, the Cadets outscored the
Falcons, 26-2, over the first 7:38 and never looked back. The NU
lead swelled to as many as 33 points in the first half, and the
Cadets settled for a 45-17 advantage at halftime.
Norwich's lead stayed in excess of 24 points throughout the
entire second half, as the Cadets coasted to the victory.
Norwich shot 42.1 percent from the floor for the game, while
Albertus Magnus hit only 30.8 percent of its field goals. The
Cadets held a 48-41 edge in rebounding.
Albertus Magnus (5-7, 0-3 GNAC) was led by Collete Dubose, who
scored a team-high nine points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
Norwich returns to action on Monday, Jan. 19, when the Cadets
host GNAC foe Pine Manor College at Andrews Hall. Tip-off for the
conference game is slated for 7:30 p.m.
