NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Ryan Boyton scored twice, and
three other NU players added goals as the Norwich men's soccer team
drilled Lasell, 5-0, in a GNAC match Wednesday afternoon at Howard
Field. Rob Harlow and Chris Rivet each tallied two assists for the
Cadets, who improve to 12-2-1 (7-0-1 GNAC). Lasell, meanwhile,
falls to 8-6-0 (7-2-0 GNAC)
Boyton opened the scoring in the third minute when the freshman
scored off an assist from Harlow. Boyton doubled the Cadets' lead
in the 37th minute when he notched his second goal of the contest
off an assist from Drew Dilley.
Norwich turned it on in the second half, scoring three goals in
a 10-minute span. Kyle Przekaza started the eruption when he headed
the ball into the net off Rivet's corner kick in the 58th minute to
give the Cadets a 3-0 advantage.
Jason Grupp made it 4-0 when he redirected Chris Rivet's
crossing pass in the 61st minute. Then, in the 67th minute, Jake
Yaris rounded out the scoring when he found the back of the net off
an assist from Harlow.
Norwich goaltender Jake Pagragan made four saves to earn his
fourth shutout of the season. It marked the eighth shutout of the
year for Norwich.
NU outshot Lasell, 23-10. The Cadets held a 5-4 edge in corner
kicks.
Norwich returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 20, when the Cadets
travel to Standish, Maine, to battle St. Joseph (Maine) in a GNAC
match. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
